Beyond Duality: Embracing Your Humanity

enduring lesson

It’s been just a year since the publication of Deep Living: Transforming Your Relationship to Everything That Matters through the Enneagram. My own experiences of deep living have continued to unfold and teach me more. At this book anniversary time, here is one of the important life lessons I’ve been living with: Trust the journey. It has its own wisdom.

enduring lesson

My publishing advisors helped me create plans for promoting the book and emphasized the necessity of high frequency and consistent marketing. That made sense! Little did I know in early 2013 that in September, just at the point when I was preparing to pour myself into promotional activity, that I would have a medical event that required me to pull back on my ‘out in the world’ activities.

I teach about surrendering, and here was another chapter in my own journey—surrendering to the reality of my body’s needs. In the midst of my internalized ‘shoulds’ about marketing, I became clear that I had another opportunity to walk this path of trust and let the book do what it wanted to do. And it did. Over the ensuing weeks and months, I recognized that there was ‘something else’ taking place that I didn’t control. I discovered, after years of working on it, that the book truly had and has a life of its own. It’s done well in the marketplace and received outstanding reviews. More importantly, I’ve heard from many people about the book’s impact on them or a family member. I’m beyond grateful that the writing is helping people develop a new understanding of and more compassionate, accepting relationship to themselves.

For me, the enduring lesson has been to deeply embrace the profound truth and to experience the soulful relief that comes with knowing that we are not in charge of most things in life. We’ve all heard this many times, but perhaps we need to receive the message a thousand times over, as it is one of life’s most difficult lessons to embody. If we follow the automatic urge to be in control where we have none, we simply get in our own way. There is a great unfolding at work that is far more intelligent and trustworthy than our ego’s devices. To the best of my ability, I walk with this trust every day. It’s a work in progress.

Welcome

I’m so glad you have found Deep Living.

You are a more magnificent being than you know. But my telling you will not be what convinces you. Only your real and direct experience can do that. And that’s what we are so blessed to offer you- grounded, honest and real experiences that include All of you, held with deep compassion that anchors a profound new level of Self-recognition.

We know that One Size Does Not Fit All! There are nine profound and distinctive pathways to inner authority, fulfillment and peace, and ultimately, to a liberated life. What works for your best friend may not be what works for you.

My amazing team and I are currently preparing an array of options-materials, coaching, courses, retreats — for us to get to know you, and for you to know us. When you opt-in, you’ll be in the loop to hear about the new opportunities as they become available, as well as receive free material from my newest book, Deep Living. Paradox lies at the very heart of the spiritual journey. It is always present, though we only become truly aware of it when we are present. When worked with consciously, it opens us up, works our edges, challenges our attachments, and serves as an avenue for healing and inner freedom.

Many of us feel the tug of seemingly opposing energies within–both drawn to express the qualities of our higher spiritual nature and finding that we sometimes act and react in familiar and troubling ways that decrease our sense of connectedness, open-heartedness and love. The sense of an internal split between your human nature and the deep, authentic mystery of your own Beingness is painful and can easily lead to a false conclusion that experiencing the sacred within cannot really be experienced now, in day-to-day life. The ‘either/or’ split, the sense of separation from oneself and from others is so common in consciousness that it feels like this is what life has to offer.

Holding what appears to be opposites in our lives is a deep and evolutionary capacity that calls upon and ignites the heart. The Enneagram offers a powerful map that shows us one of the ultimate paradoxes: that the personality structure creates a trance of duality that takes us in exactly the opposite direction from our deepest nature..

In this presence-based retreat, Roxanne will offer brief talks and extensive experiential work, including individual exploration, partner inquiry, somatic work, meditation, and group dialogue. We will work with the EnneaCross©. Recently discovered by Roxanne with colleague, Diana Redmond, it is the integration of two powerful ancient symbols used for centuries to reflect the spiritual journey of paradox that is asked of humans.

Ultimately, this work supports the primacy of love, compassion and awe of the mystery of Being.
