Overview

Enneagram Type Six, often referred to as "The Loyalist," or "The Questioner," has a personality type characterized by loyalty, commitment, dependability, and a strong sense of responsibility. Sixes focus their attention on security and therefore tend to be careful, vigilant, and on the lookout for potential threats or risks in their environment.

Sixes possess a keen sense of allegiance to their friends, family, and the institutions they believe in. They are reliable, responsible, and often take on leadership roles, as they feel a strong sense of duty and care towards their communities and those they live or work with closely.

At the core of Type Six personality is a sense of lack of support and trusted guidance, which is exacerbated by a tendency to fear uncertainty. This drives them to seek predictability and reassurance, often through loyalty to trusted individuals and/or various systems. The tendency to second-guess themselves can lead to anxiety and indecision. They may engage in worst-case scenario thinking or over-analyze situations in an attempt to mitigate potential risks.

Paradoxically, as Type Sixes learn to relax their vigilance and need for certainty, they begin to trust their own inner authority and navigate life’s challenges with ease and resilience. Embracing the natural dynamism of life, they embody a sense of trust and security in the face of unknown circumstances and are a solid presence in which others feel safe, secure and grounded.
