Overview

Enneagram Type Nine, often referred to as "The Peacemaker," or "The Mediator," has a personality type characterized by a desire for harmony, peace, and service to others. Nines are known for their easy-going nature, patience, good listening skills, and an ability to see multiple perspectives.

In general, Nines are accepting of others and are adaptable, making them excellent mediators and peacekeepers in their relationships and communities. They value unity and often strive to create a sense of calm and cooperation in their environments.

However, this desire for peace and cooperation can lead to complacency and a lack of assertiveness around their own priorities. Nines can struggle with procrastination and difficulty with setting boundaries. They may have trouble identifying and expressing their own needs and desires, fearing it will create unease. Their tendency is to merge with the preferences and desires of others, avoiding confrontation as a way of maintaining a sense of tranquility.

Paradoxically, as Type Nines learn to develop their sense of self and assert their own desires and boundaries, they recognize that their perspective and input is valuable and that conflict is an essential aspect of growth and true collaboration. Nines have a remarkable capacity for compassion and goodness, and when they channel these qualities while embracing their own needs and desires, they become a grounding force for love and goodness in the world.
